Title: Benefits Account Manager
Department: Financial
Services Department
Reports To: Operations Manager

Summary:
-
Provide assistance to producers in handling and processing of
individual life and variable products (NASD) and group benefits
including group health, group life, group LTD, group STD, group
dental, group 401(k), group pension plans and Section 125
business.

Provide in-house customer service to clients as assigned and
requested.
Major Responsibilities:
- Order
quotes from insurance carriers.

Prepare proposals for the producers.
- Track
approval status in all individual life applications.
- Answer
questions for and provide services to applicants and
policyholders.
- Obtain
pricing for medical records from attending physicians’ offices
when required.
- Set-up
and maintain files.
- Notify
applicants of status approval process and their
approval/declination as needed.
- Be
familiar with the various application forms and underwriting
requirements for each line of individual coverage.

Process policyholder requests for changes on an “as needed”
basis.
- For
groups providing payroll, deduct individual policies, annual
summary reports from insurance carriers.
- Assist
with special projects as determined by department manager and/or
supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Two
years experience preferable in similar position. A 218
insurance license from the State of Florida is required, if not
before interview, must obtain upon accepting position.
2. Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative
with good communication skills both verbal and written. Should have
thorough understanding of Microsoft computer products and good
technical skills.
Education and/or Experience:
High
school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Language Skills:
Must
be able to perform the following in English. Ability to read and
interpret documents and general business periodicals, professional
journals, technical procedure, government regulations and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business
correspondence. Ability to speak and effectively present
information before groups of customers or employees of organization
and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers
and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such
as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic
algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability
to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and
deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written , oral, diagram, or schedule
form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
